Where can I get music from?

I was just wondering should I download from kazaa? I mean is it worth the risk? And theres this place called "EasyMusicDownloads.com" where you pay a yearly cost, do you have any info?

Edited by Jordan: Removed a URL. See my post for reason

For legal 99 cent downloads (which are terribly addictive!) I've been using MusicMatch - although their software for the DJ might suck they offer a pretty comprehensive download catalog, and also Tower Records (http://www.tower.com) has a very good collection. Both offer their music in the WMA format which has no problems being transferred to your DJ. Good luck!!

Edited by Jordan: Cleaned up along with the last post

And as far as the RIAA focusing on it goes, it, like many other clients hooks up to the Gnutella network, so be careful, as the ghutella network grows it may be the next target.

Try the "General mp3 talk" part of this forum.

Here's one good thread.

Sorry for having to intervene in this thread, guys....

But one of the things we've pressed from the beginning is to please not discuss where to get pirated music (P2P, websites, FTP sites, etc). I removed the references in this thread of that type. As for "Kazaa-like" P2P (or other) services out there, I personnaly think you're a fool to use them nowadays. There are just too many security holes in these applications, along with the many virii/worms/trojans/etc that are passed through them everyday. Although you may not hear as much about the non-Kazaa services, there are just as many security holes in them as there are with the latter.

The best idea is to subscribe to one of the cheaper pay services, and you'll be pretty much guaranteed that you're not downloading anything that's about to infect your computer. There might still be some security holes in the pay services' software, but there are way less than with the P2P apps.

No problem guys, don't worry about it.

Just trying to keep things clean before it turned into a whole thread of "gray area" posts.

I personally do not enjoy downloading from musicmatch and other similar services. I like buying the entire album at stores such as bestbuy. You may pay 2 or 3 dollars more but you get to enjoy the album covers and info that comes with it. In my opinion thats half the fun.
