You can burn audible content to cd too, then rip to mp3. It's too bad that the DJ doesn't support audible.com files. It is such a great service (and one of the reasons my ipod is the DAP that is usually in my car).

Because you lose sound quality, and audiobook sound quality is already pretty poor (around 92 kb/s I believe). Plus, audible files self bookmark themselves. I can come back to the book after listening to music and it knows where I left off. You can't do that with a mp3 audiobook file.

Reripping as MP3 would create multiple files for one audiobook, you would lose the chapter marks, and your file size would increase greatly. You can work around it, but it's a pain. To do it right you really need a DAP that supports the .aa file format, like the iPod. |

Thank you all for your feedback! This site has been so helpful! I've already purchased the Dell DJ 20G and from this site I have learned how to download my book from "audio.com" and convert it to an MP3 format. However, as one person stated and I have found to be true, I cannot "bookmark" where I left off. That is a problem.
I don't believe I'll be downloading any more books no time soon. My main reason for buying the player was to listen to music. Again, "thank you" all for helping me. Now -- back to the site to find a better pair of ear plugs to buy!! |
