Newbie question about initial install

I used the cd to install the software...However, in the instruction manual it says to not connect the dj until prompted. I was never prompted it just as to restart. So, not sure what to do now. Also, I got dudebox so I deleted musicmatch. Now, dj explore was not installed right? Thanks for the help.

Mine never told me to plug the DJ in either. Just go ahead and plug it in whenever now.
I don't understand the last part of your post. Getting rid of MusicMatch shouldn't affect DJ Explorer. But you don't want DJ Explorer anyway if you've got Dudebox. So you should uninstall DJ Explorer.
Remember to update your firmware to the 1.10 version (unless you have the FM tuner, then get the 1.20 version).

Try this link to download the DJ drivers and the latest firmware. If you already bought Dudebox you can delete DJ Explorer afterwards (they do the same thing, DB is way better). MusicMatch can be used to rip and tag and burn cds. Don't use it to transfer, use Dudebox. http://forums.us.dell.com/supportfo...message.id=9587

You're gonna need some program to rip, store mp3s in a library, play, and edit tags. MM, WMP, itunes, Winamp, RealMedia, all do that. Your choice (I use MM Plus, works for me).
You'll need to connect the DJ before you update the firmware, the thing should prompt you to connect and then open the file and I goes straight to the DJ as I recall.
