Data error (cylci redundancy check).

I've started having a problem while moving songs of backup disks. I got the following message:

Cannot copy Olive - Beyond the Fray: Data error (cylci redundancy check).

Any ideas?

do you mean moving songs from the DJ to the CD?? I think you have to move the songs onto your computer first before you can move it to a CD.

Does it work if you burn it onto the computer first and then move it to the DJ??? I heard someone else complain that they moved songs directly from a CD to the DJ but then it stopped working for no reason. He/she was also DJ Explorer

Cyclic Redundancy Error is a problem with the disc. Whatever the file is might not come off there to your hard drive either.

Did you get the error when copying from the CD to your PC? Or when copying from the PC to the DJ? If it was when copying it from the PC to the DJ then you most likely have a problem with the HD in the DJ.

From cd to DJ.

It definitely the cd itself.

I pretty sure this error means that you have a huge freakin' scratch on the CD so it can't read it properly.

If you are getting the same errors from the same files, it suggests a problem with your source media. Bad CD burns, damaged CDs, file system errors on the destination disk, or even file system errors on the original hard drive before the backups were created can result in CRC errors. If you are getting such repeatable errors, there isn't much you can do to correct them. There are file recovery programs available, but chances are your affected MP3s will have significant errors present after file recovery is complete. I have been through this myself recently as the hard drive I was using to store my MP3 collection started to have file system problems. I ended up deleting the affected files and re-ripping them after trying (without success) to repair the damaged files.
