Who needs 80gb?

I cannot understand someone needing 80gb of storage space. I just got a DJ15 and have put my entire 700 song collection on it which is mostly techno and trance music and includes quite a few live DJ sets that are over an hour long. This has only taken 4gb of space so far. Now that I have my player I will surely be downloading more music but I think the 15gb will last me quite a while. The Dell DJ is a great MP3 player but if you need room for 14,000 songs then I guess the Nomad is right for you.

I have 120 GB of Songs(15,000). I could use a larger JB. BTW, I have been using MusicMatch for three years. I like it.

I'm also in the "wish it had more space" camp. I've got 60 gigs backed up to DVDs. Rather wish I could put 'em all on the Dell, but oh well. It will make it easier to browse files on the DJ at least.

It was only inevitable that new DAP's and price competition would knock the DJ's 'great deal' status down a notch or two. It was INDEED a great deal when it first came out and remains a solid product. However as you've noticed players are out now for the same price with at least equal features but double the storage and more. I would say that the Nomad is your best bet now but hey, 6 months ago it was the DJ all the way. This industry is hot and moving fast. One thing I'll mention just as an FYI is neither player has line-out support. Not a big deal for most people though.

Grayscale> Varying shades of gray.

Monochrome> Solid colors, meaning in the DJs case, black.

If it were a phone or a PDA, I'd care. Since I only look at the screen for about 5 minutes for an hour of use, it matters very little to me.

The reason the Nomad can have more storage for about the same price of the DJ is the Nomad uses a 2.5 in harddrive, the DJ uses 1.8 in, which is more expensive because it makes the unit smaller. I know most people know this, just wanted to make sure you did. Two other things, the DJ has built in voice recording, the creative does not. Second, the DJ has an in line tuner with FM recording for 49, but Creatives is 69.

Line-out gives a pure/unaltered/non-eq'd/non-amplified feed. It is better than the headphone jack when hooking the DAP up to a home stereo which have far better eq's and amps than any DJ, ipod, zen, etc.

The zen is about 2 ounces heavier than the dj and quite a bit thicker, so if you're looking for something to stick in your pocket go with the DJ.
