Won't lose your tracks, don't know about settings. There aren't really many settings though anyway.

You won't lose anything, expect for problems, if you upgrade your firmware. Your settings will still be the same (owner name/backlight/contrast/idle/language). yea, and there isn't really that much settings. 5 min tops to switch it back if it does reset. I doubt that it will reset, the firmware won't change the settings. However, some people say that 1.20 does more harm than good. I had no probs with it, though.

Just upgrade to 1.10. You only need 1.20 if you use the fm remote.

Definitely upgrade to 1.10. You won't lose anything but headaches, as money said.
Don't get the 1.20 version unless you get the inline FM Tuner. It has caused problems for a few people and doesn't make any improvements other than allowing the FM Tuner to work, so it's not worth the bother.

Nope, you can do that fine. Just follow the instructions and it will replace the 1.20 version.

it lets you view artist->album and it lets you play all tracks, and it also stops library rebuilds (which can take a long time if you have alot music). tehrs more, but i don't know them all.

Something crazy I just noticed: There are two 1.10s. The first one was made in 3/2/04 and it's called Dell Digital Jukebox, v.1.10.05, A01 Driver. The other one was made in 3/4/03 and it's called Dell Digital Jukebox, v.1.10.00, A03 Driver. Does anyone understand the differences?? And why was 1.10.00 made after 1.10.05??
------EDIT-----
oh, I get it. 1.10.00 driver is for MusicMatch.
-----
Firmware v1.10.05 Changes (Dell DJ):
1. Updated Play Engine to fix issue with short voice recordings. This play engine also responds faster when performing FF (next track).
2. Added option to "Play All Music Tracks" as an option within Music Library.
3. Add option to "View Album" from within Music Library->Artist.
4. Add option to "Play Album" from within Music Library->Artist->View Album->View Tracks, and from within Music Library->Album->View Tracks.
5. Fixed problem with renaming tracks.
6. Renamed "Remove All" under the pop-up for Selected Music to "Clear Selection".
7. Added a "Clear Selection" option to the pop-up on the Main Menu->Now Playing. This option will perform the same operation as (2), and change the screen to the Selected Music screen after clearing.

All this info is from the Dell.com website:
