How water-proof do you think the inline remote is?

Due to the high gas prices I'll be biking quite a bit this summer. I plan on having the DJ in my backpack and run the wired remote to one of the straps. Obviously I won't be using it in a downpour or anything, but think a small drizzl would be bad?

I think it'd probably be fine, but I'd try to keep it as dry as possible.

Hmm... lookin' at my remote now, I see it's casing is pretty well sealed. Looks good enough. I'd say it's OK, too.

I say you should try to drown the in-line remote in your bathtub. After you take it out, see if it still works. If it doesn't call Dell Customer Service.

You should be fine. I used my DJ/remote/headphones for some early spring base training on my bike and it sprinkled a few times. I had no problems. Just keep the DJ dry.

Plus, if the remote goes kaput, it doesn't cost much to replace.

The FM remote is 50 bucks a pop.... Still a considerable amount for anyone taking a bike because the gas prices are high.. and I agree, that is a smart way to go. I thought the gas was only high here.

I thought he was talking about the standard inline remote that comes with the 20 gig, and can be bought for 19.99.

I am talking about the standard inline. Gas prices suck. I get really good mileage, and live in a small town, so it's not like I go through tanks fast. I recently moved to an area of town where all necessities are within biking distance, so I am attempting to get more exercise under the guise of high gas prices.

Go for it. Even if it pours and your whole DJ gets fried, your body will thank you for the exercise.

Just make sure you listen at a volume that you can hear what is going on around you (car horns, other bikers comming up behind/passing you, etc). My advise would be to use the DJ on multi use trails and back country roads. When in traffic it would be suicide for you to have headphones in

I went fishing a couple of days ago and I took my DJ with me. As I bent down near the edge of the water to remove a fish from the line I noticed that my remote had come unclipped from my pocket and was sitting in the water. As far as I can tell, no water entered the remote and it still works great. I would say a little bit of rain should be no problem at all.
