I'm taking the ipod challenge

Well I bit the bullet and ordered an ipod. The $100 off deal from audible.com was too good to pass up. I got a 15gb and it will be here tomorrow. I am looking forward to using the ipod outside of an apple store. I'll be sure to update with notes and opinions.

Download iTunes and get that music library ready! (if you haven't already).

With SP's (Smart Playlists, which are really cool) in mind, try to rate your library as much as you can. You can start to build SP's now. Choose 'New Smart Playlist' from the 'File' menu and take a look at all the different criteria you can use to build SP's (notice the '+/-' buttons to add/remove criteria). I think this is probably one of the most overlooked features, I love showing people how powerful it is.

I'm a musician so I'm pretty into my audio gear. It's not so much to do with how many playlists I have, more with how easy it is to reconfigure the criteria depending on what I want to listen to.

When I first got iTunes and found out about Smart Playlists, I was thinking "This is so simple, but yet, so ingenious" as no one before that had something like it (they still don't if I'm correct)

I think the iPod's come with iTunes on CD, but I may be incorrect. As for rating music, my only rant is that the ratings go away if you have to reformat your hdd and loose that iTunes setup.

People with 2 mp3 players...

I noticed that you have a Dell DJ and an iPod....do you actually use both? Why would someone want 2 mp3 players? What I am missing here?
