Belkin Neoprene Sports Case = Where It's At!!

I just got mine in the mail today (1/2 off )

First thing I did was take off the bulky belt clip (IMO, the only downside of this case). It was a major pain in the butt because, after I removed all the stitching, I realized the thing was BOLTED on!!! I used some pliers and was able to finally get it off (though there is a small hole in the back of the case now... but the back of the case is two-ply so the hole doesn't go all the way through).

It fits the DJ pretty snugly, but not as snug as the JamJacket so taking off the Sports Case isn't a major event.

It looks cool too (even though it's contrast color is yellow... no biggie).

But the best part (and what, again IMO, makes it better than the JamJacket) is that the scroll wheel is not hindered at all!! It's nice to have a DJ that I can easily scroll through again.

The JamJacket is nice (and I'll probably keep it... just in case) but I like this one a lot more. It would be PERFECT if Belkin made one w/out a clip and in different colors (and I've already e-mailed them with these suggestions)

BTW, I didn't think I was going to like this case AT ALL but figured I'd try it out just because I was getting it at 1/2 off. I'm really glad that I decided to purchase it.

I agree 100%.

Thanks for the part about removing the clip. I've wanted to do that but lacked intestinal fortitude. So it was no big deal to remove?

Results may vary but I just took out all the stitches and then bent back the clip (holding the side closest to the case to make sure I didn't just rip it out of the case). I then took some pliers to the little button thing and worked on that for a little while. Using some elbow grease I finally got it to pull lose.
There's still a piece in between the two layers that make up the back of the case but it doesn't really take up too much space or pose an inconvenience.
There's a little hole where the button thing went thru... I may end up taking a needle and thread to that and close it up/secure it to make sure it doesn't stretch out or rip.

There are also little indents where the thread used to be... but I'm hoping they will eventually work themselves out.

I'll post pics later on when I get home

To remove stitches, there is a special tool, about 3 or 4 inches long with a little curved tip with the inside of the curve sharpened. You insert the tip into the loop and then push and the inside of the curve cuts the thread. Available at sewing shops (or just borrow your wife's).

I ordered a Belkin case as well (can't beat half-off), it arrives Monday, and I plan to do the same and cut off the belt clip.

Awesome. Glad you like it.

Indeed, I too thought the Yellow/Black on the DJ was pug-fugly, but it does indeed grow on you.

My DJ20 is on the way but I wanted to know what the deal is with the basic case the unit comes with.....Is the DJ not operable when using the basic case?.....I think I will spend the $22 ($7 shipping sucks) at Belkin and get this case too...Besides the belt clip, is it a pretty sweet case?

The case that comes with the DJ is a slip case, more for storage and transport when not in use - no access to controls. Belkin has 1/2 off right now using coupon "12345". I got the neoprene case and the deluxe desk charger.

Neoprene case

Probably. There are 3 pieces. There is a belt clip (1) . There is a bolt (2) attaching the clip to the case which allows the clip to swivel. There is a leather patch (3) that attaches the bolt to the case. Standard cellphone holder stuff.

You could probably cut through the bolt and leave #3 (patch) attached to the case. Check Nakai's website for pics of the case.

The only pics I could take for you now are of my final product (w/everything taken off).

I've taken off the clip AND the leather. So, now there is a little hole (where the bolt used to be) and, um, "stitch dents."

I'm sure you can remove the bold and clip w/out taking off the leather patch... all I did (to get the bolt off) was take a pair of needle nose pliars to it and use some elbow grease.

Let me know if you wanna see "final product" pics.
