Introduction

Just about anyone who has ever used a set of portable headphones or earbuds can probably agree that the lengthy cords often get in the way.  While this might not be much of an issue if you're just sitting at your desk, the cords can become a real hassle if you are moving around while listening to your favorite tunes.  Many of you have likely solved the problem by using a twist-tie or tape to keep the extra cord length bundled up, but I'm sure you'll agree that this is very ugly and also makes it a pain if you decide you need more or less cord length at a later time.  A company named Sumajin has come up with a very stylish and easy-to-use product to solve this problem that they have dubbed the Smartwrap headphone cord manager.

Product Description / Usage

The Smartwrap has a very simplistic design, yet it's a design that I have not seen any other manufacturers even come close to matching in terms of quality and style.  Other similar products I've seen in the past have been made of hard plastic, often with sharp corners that are very uncomfortable if stuffed in a pocket.  Sumajin's Smartwrap, on the other hand, is made of a soft rubber material as well as having a very rounded/curved design that makes it perfectly comfortable to store wherever you'd like.  As you can see in the picture below, the Smartwrap has a snap on each end and a narrow area in the middle to wrap your cord around.  To use it, simply snap one end of it wherever you'd like on your headphone cord.  Then begin to wrap the excess cord around the middle of the Smartwrap.  Once you've made your cord the desired length, snap the cord into the other end of the Smartwrap to hold it in place.  If you later decide to make the cord longer or shorter, it's as simple as unsnapping one end of the cord from the Smartwrap.

Conclusion

Although the Smartwrap is a very simple product, I would recommend it to just about anyone who uses a portable music player.  While cord management could easily be handled with a simple twist-tie, the Smartwrap is much more convenient as well as providing a very stylish appearance that will grab people's attention.  Also, if you don't like the blue color of the Smartwrap that I received, Sumajin also offers it in white, translucent, black, orange, green, purple, red, and pink.  I cannot personally find any downsides to this product, although some people may complain about the $5.00 pricetag for such a simple item.  However, I think the price is well justified by the quality of the product because in my month of testing/abusing it, the Smartwrap still looks just the same as it did they day I took it out of the package.  It should easily outlast your current audio player, and probably more players that you own down the road.
